What are Ceramic Braces?
Ceramic Braces are probably right for you if:
- Your teeth are crowded, crooked or rotated
- There are gaps you want closed
- Your bite does not sit properly
- You are working, dating, teaching or on camera and would rather not be visibly in braces
- You want fixed treatment you do not have to think about every day
- Aligners appeal to you but you are not confident you would wear them 22 hours a day
- For Children and teenagers - Ceramic braces may be considered when orthodontic treatment is appropriate and the permanent teeth have erupted.

Do Ceramic Braces Stain?
Ceramic Braces vs Metal Braces vs Clear Aligners
Each orthodontic treatment has its advantages. The right choice depends on your orthodontic needs, lifestyle, and how visible you want your treatment to be.
| Ceramic Braces | Metal Braces | Clear Aligners | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Appearance | Tooth-coloured, far less noticeable | Visible metal brackets | Close to invisible |
| Suited to | Mild to moderate cases | Mild through to complex cases | Mild to moderate cases |
| Fixed or removable | Fixed | Fixed | Removable |
| Daily discipline needed | None | None | 20 to 22 hours of wear |
| Durability | Brackets can chip | Highest | Trays replaced fortnightly |
| Cost | Middle | Lowest of the three | Highest |
Metal braces handle the cases the other two cannot. Severe crowding, significant rotations, deep bites, and anything needing sustained control over specific teeth.
Clear aligners finish beautifully for the right case and come out when you eat. They only work if you wear them, which is harder than most people expect.
The real question is not which treatment is better. It is which one your case needs, and how visible you are willing to be while it happens.
Not sure which option is right for you?
Book an orthodontic consultation to compare ceramic braces, metal braces and clear aligners based on your teeth, lifestyle and treatment goals.

FAQs
How much do ceramic braces cost in Hyderabad?
Ceramic braces start from ₹45,000. Your final cost depends on case complexity, treatment duration, and whether extractions or additional appliances are needed. You receive a written estimate after assessment, with no hidden additions later.
Do ceramic braces stain?
The brackets are stain-resistant and do not discolour. The elastic ties holding the wire can pick up colour from coffee, tea, turmeric or smoking, and they are replaced at every adjustment appointment.
Are ceramic braces as effective as metal braces?
For most cases, yes. The mechanics are identical. Metal brackets are preferred for certain complex movements where extra strength is needed, and we will tell you if your case is one of them.
How long do ceramic braces take?
Mild cases usually finish in 12 to 16 months, moderate cases in 16 to 20, and complex cases in 20 to 24 or occasionally longer. We give you an honest estimate at the start and tell you if it changes.
Are ceramic braces painful?
There are no injections and no drilling. You will feel soreness for the first few days after fitting and for two or three days after each adjustment. Soft food and over-the-counter pain relief handle it.
Are ceramic braces suitable for adults?
Yes, and most of our ceramic braces patients are adults. There is no upper age limit as long as your gums and supporting bone are healthy, which we check first.
Can ceramic brackets break?
They are more brittle than metal, so hard and sticky foods matter more here. Avoid ice, nuts in the shell, hard sweets and chewing gum. If a bracket does come loose, we replace it at short notice.
Ceramic braces or clear aligners, which one to choose?
Aligners are more discreet and come out when you eat. Ceramic braces are fixed, so they work whether you remember them or not, and they handle a slightly wider range of cases. If you are unsure you would wear aligners consistently, ceramic is the safer choice.
